we finally made it after a 4 hour delay. first thing we did drop was off our stuff at the apartment we are staying at. (its a 1.5 million dollar place - and very quaint - living is expensive around here). we were starving so we got a bite to eat at a cafe across the street. it was uhh quite embarrassing to try to order, as the lady didn't know any english and we didn't know any french. after lots of pointing and a little frustration we finally got our sandwiches. luckily for me, i had pointed out one with ham and swiss on it, while jackie and lisa's had raw salmon. fun fact: passed by a lamborghini store on the way...
we brought our lunch to the arc de triomphe and ate under it since it was raining. i couldn't believe how large it was compared to what i had always imagined throughout history class. after that we conked out for a nap since we were exhausted; however, i don't think it will be as hard to adjust to the time zone since we're pretty on track so far.
after a lovely dinner of some chicken/pasta casserole and ice cream with our "landlady" for the week, we headed to the eiffel tower. that's when the "omg.im.in.paris" moment set in. then we realized we hadn't brought the apartment code along with us and had a minor freak out about how we were going to get back into the building (as you need 2 codes to enter). fortunately joan was still awake and heard us yelling her name up to her 3rd story place.
anyways, were going to cheers to a glass of wine and call it a night! missing everyone...
Now what would YOU have done with raw salmon!?! :) God bless Joan for hosting you. Please get me her mailing address when you can. Look forward to seeing more! Love ya, Mom
